Why a Handwritten Note?

When and How to Use a Handwritten Note
Sending handwritten note will leave a far better impression than any email or text therefore, you may wish to consider sending a handwritten note when;

  • You receive a gift
  • You respond to an invitation
  • You are expressing condolences or offering congratulations
  • You have been treated to a business lunch, dinner or other function
  • You have been a guest in someones home
  • You need to apologize

Make it easy on yourself!

one1. Keep the right sort of stationery close at hand—alongside pens, corresponding envelopes and stamps. Quite often, you can actually prepare your note before the event has even taken place! Address and stamp your envelope ahead of time so that when you return, all you need to do is write a few quick lines on the card, tuck it in the envelope and drop it in the mail.

2. Keep it brief—it is a ‘note’ we are talking about here, not a letter. You should keep your message to the point; you only have to come up with three or four sentences.

3. Don’t rush your handwriting—contrary to popular belief, most of us can write quite legibly if we take the time to do so. Poor penmanship is no excuse to adopt the policy of sending e-mails instead of the odd handwritten note and the person who receives your note will appreciate your thoughtfulness, and will not be grading your handwriting. Remember, it’s only a couple of lines!thanks

4. Keep it timely—your handwritten note will be received even more favorably if you mail it within a day or so of the event. However, there is no definite statute of limitations on appreciation, so even if you’ve forgotten about it for a week or so — send a note!

Pay attention to the details

and look for ways to build better relationships both professionally and personally. When you take the time to send handwritten notes, you will stand out from the crowd for all the right reasons. Your next friendship, big sale or job promotion may come about as a result of your doing things just a little differently.
